So the seats the nice counter lady found for us pathetic old persons were not merely better located in the coach section, but in fact were "SAS-Plus" seats with extra knee space! So it was as enjoyable a 10-hour flight as we've ever had. Several hours of sleep, decent supper and breakfast, and a slightly ahead-of-schedule touchdown at 1pm. Yay SAS!
Turned on the new iPhone, it said "searching" and then immediately connected to a carrier and was operational, just as the T-Mobile guy said it would. Apple maps knew exactly where we were. It took more than 40 minutes for our bags to arrive but meantime we bought train tickets from a vending machine with a credit card, and that worked. (Well, it ought to work; the same card worked for train tickets at CDG last year, but it's a different country and all.)
Train to Copenhagen central was easy to find.
Our hotel was a short walk from the depot.
From our room we look out on the Radhus (town hall) plaza. Two trumpets for that.
After a shower and brush-up we went out for some supper. Hotel clerk recommended "Restaurant Puk" where we had a platter of Danish specialties: batter-fried something, fresh salmon with dill and a sauce, herring pickled in aquavit with capers and rye bread, liver paté, a slice of roast pork.
Walked around a bit more. Saw H.C. Anderson contemplating Tivoli Gardens, then headed to bed.
Nice flight; the phone works; good wi-fi; good food; excellent bed. Favorable forecast for tomorrow's weather. A very promising start!
